GRAHAM RODGER & SARA STORER - "AN AFFAIR OF THE HEART"
Sara StorerThis is the first duet that Graham and Sara have recorded. It was written by Graham with Sara in mind. "An Affair of the Heart" was conceived whilst Graham was driving back from Mildura. As he thought up the ideas he jotted them down on a road map.
"I was delighted when Sara confirmed her interest in recording and she has certainly taken the song to another height with her lay-back vocals capturing the essence of a woman who loves the country life," said Graham. "BACK TO GREENVALE" - 2013 - The 40th Anniversary
Three Rivers Hotel - Greenvale"From Townsville To Greenvale they're building a line"
Home of the "Three Rivers Hotel" made famous by Slim Dusty with the song of the same name written by Stan Coster during the mining boom. Here you can enjoy a quiet ale and get a meal, as well as talk to the locals.
Greenvale is a small mining town built especially for the purpose of housing the mine workers. The township was built in the 70's, opening it's doors to workers when the Greenvale Nickel mine opened in 1973.
An official opening was had for the opening of the Nickel Mine and the railway but apparently not for the town itself.
When the Greenvale Nickel mine closed it's doors in 1993 the township almost became a ghost town.
The Greenvale Progress Association Inc. are planning a Reunion in 2013.
A lot of people have worked here over the years with the mine, railway and roads as well as construction, planning etc, and moved on....those people could be anywhere now. They could however be intrested in coming back to see where the town is now (according to some, it should have been bulldozed down).
But we are still here !!!!!
Greenvale Community is looking for items of historical value for our 40th Anniversary Celebrations in 2013 (Photos, personal stories & memoriabilia of time spent here when the Nickel mine was in full production. Railway history .....in fact anything to do with Greenvale, so we can compile a history which can be displayed for the enjoyment of those attending our Celebrations.
Anyone wishing to help with suggestions, expertise etc. are welcome.
